Warblers
The flight calls given by New World Warblers (Setophaga), are often lumped into three categories: up-seets, zeeps, and unique. Up-seets are often characterized as short, monosyllabic calls usually occurring above 6 kHz. These are usually given by Tennessee Warblers, Nashville Warblers, Black-throated Green Warblers, and Orange-crowned Warblers. The zeep complex is rather large and contains much overlap and uncertainty. Zeeps are characterized by being short, modulated (appearing "wavy" like a cosine or sin function) and also usually above 6 kHz. Examples in this complex include Blackburnian Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, and the Waterthrushes. Finally, the unique group consists of warblers which give calls that are readily identifiable and are easier to discern. Some examples of this group include Wilson's Warbler, American Redstart, and Canada Warbler.
